Flyfishing is the most close-to-nature form of angling. Here you have an opportunity to learn the basics of flyfishing, with the 4,000 lakes and watercourses in Arvidsjaur District as your classroom, taught by experienced flyfishers in an unforgettable Lapland setting.
Day 1: Check-in and run-though of equipment and accessories. Introduction to casting techniques and basic fly-tying. In the evening we go to a small river to try out the first flies.
Day 2: At 09.00, we set off for the River Abbmor, one of the most interesting grayling waters in Sweden, for a whole day by the river.
Day 3: We learn more about fly-tying and casting techniques.
Day 4: From 09.00 to 13.00, we visit Lake Kroktjärnen to test yesterday’s flies on trout and pike. Lunch outdoors.
At about 14.00 we look closer at where in the water the fish are to be found in different weather conditions and seasons.
Day 5: Graduation Day. Activities and fishing in Lake Nyborgstjärn in the centre of Arvidsjaur community.
The course aims to give you a good start to your flyfishing and deals with different aspects like classes of rod and line, selecting equipment and casting techniques. The angling will concentrate on wild grayling, trout and pike.
Includes: Accommodation in shared self-catering cabin in centrally located Camp Gielas, instructor, fishing permit, fly-tying equipment, transport to and from angling waters, snack before and after noon, a real wilderness lunch, dinner of local delicacies at the campfire when we are out all day, and a well-earned diploma.
Useful to take along: Your own fishing tackle if possible. Boots or waders, warm clothes, rucksack. Telia subscription for your cell phone.
Date: Five days beginning 16 June, 7 July, 14 July, 4 August. Weekend – 20 June, 11 July, 18 July, 8 August.
Groups of at least four persons on request at optional dates during June to September.
Price: Five days – 6,200 SEK per person. Cost of bed linen and cleaning out not included.
Weekend – 4,700 SEK per person including all the above.
Optional extras: Rental of flyfishing tackle 300 SEK. There are several local shops with a good range of angling accessories.

Other information: Arvidsjaur Municipality has more than 4,000 lakes and watercourse and only just over 7,000 inhabitants, so there is no crowding at the waterside. There are also good opportunities to experience both Saami (Lappish) culture and the pioneer culture.
